Many people have high or low blood pressure but don't even realize it until they have a check. They may be getting minor symptoms but haven't really noticed them.

Uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to a number of serious and potentially life-threatening health conditions, such as:

Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted bacterial infection. It is relatively simple to treat if caught early. The problem is that it can often show no symptoms so people are not always aware they have it.

We can provide you with a simple urine test to check if you have Chlamydia and instructions on how to use it. If the result comes back positive, Northamptonshire Integrated Sexual Health Service will contact you and arrange an appointment so you can get treated at Moulton pharmacy.

This is a free and confidential NHS service for people under 25.

Ideally you should be looking to prevent Chlamydia for which we can provide you with information and condoms under the C-Card Scheme.

If you are on multiple medications and find if difficult to keep on top of what you should be taking and when, we can provide your medication in dosette boxes to take away the guesswork. This can be particularly helpful when you have carers so that there is no duplication of medication.

Long forgotten medicines left in the medicine cabinet can be a hazard. Some may be out of date, others may have been prescribed only for a short course or may have been changed by the GP following a review.

These medicines should be disposed of correctly and safely. Please do not throw away any medicines via waste water or household waste. Bring them to our pharmacy where we will dispose of them free of charge. These measures will help protect the environment.

We can not accept sharps and needles but we can advise you how to dispose of them.

Commonly known as the "morning after" pill, emergency contraception can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sex but the sooner taken the more effective it can be.
There are different types of emergency contraception:

• The emergency contraception pill - Levonelle
• The emergency contraception pill - EllaOne
• The emergency intrauterine device (IUD)

You will have a private confidential consultation with the pharmacist to make sure the tablet is suitable for you. If you prefer to have an IUD fitted we would refer you to a specialist health professional.

This free NHS service enables patients to talk to us when they have been prescribed a medication form a new medicines list. We find that this helps with any concerns, side effects and to simply keep informed of the progress that patients are making.

All contact with the pharmacist is completely confidential and aimed at ensuring you are getting the best results from your medication.

You will be offered this service automatically when you first collect your new medication for one of these long term conditions: asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or if you have been given a new blood-thinning medicine.

After an initial consultation with the pharmacist you will be invited to a follow-up appointment one to two weeks later when we can talk about any issues you might have experienced with the medicine ( difficulty swallowing, side effects, more information on the condition treated, etc) . This can take place in person or by phone.

A further two weeks later, you will have your last appointment with one of our pharmacist to see how you're getting on. The NHS service then ends, but we will always be available if you need any help with your medicines.

Private prescriptions are issued by private healthcare services like private hospitals or GP online services. They are not funded by the NHS, so you will have to pay for your medication. The price will depend on the actual cost of the drug and sometimes you will pay less than the equivalent NHS charge.

Moulton Pharmacy is providing the NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).

Most surgeries are now able to send prescriptions electronically straight to the pharmacy of your choice. It means that if you use our free delivery service*, you can get your repeat prescription without leaving your home.

If you would like your prescription to be dispensed by Moulton Pharmacy using the EPS you need to nominate us as your pharmacy of choice. This will ensure that all your future prescriptions will come to us and we can get them ready for you.

You only need to nominate us once. You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time if you wish.

Please bear in mind that since September 2018, GP practices within the Nene Clinical Commissioning Group (Daventry, Northampton, Wellingborough, Kettering, East Northamptonshire and South Northamptonshire) are no longer accepting repeat prescription requests from pharmacies on behalf of patient.

It means that the majority of patients and their carers are now asked to order their repeat medicines directly from their GP practice (by posting repeat to the surgery, dropping the repeat to the surgery or ordering prescription online). It is part of a wider plan to improve the efficiency and safety of the repeat prescription system and the management of the prescribing budget (reduce medicine wastage).
